The GRIN-endoscope:
A useful tool in trauma- and infection surgery

The GRIN-endoscop is an established surgical
tool in advanced vitreoretinal surgery. Normally
used in subretinal surgery, it can be also very helpful in trauma or infectious
surgery. We will
demonstrate in three exemplary case reports the sense and technique of
this instrument to make searching for small intraocular forgein bodies
easier and isolation of suspective agents possible. In a case of a blunt
trauma and hypotony it allows the surgeon to decide more exploration or
to give up. These exemplary cases will give you an impression what GRIN
endoscopy is able to do in severe cases.
