15a. Retinal Screening in Pediatric Patients
Yesim Häußler-Sinangin (Frankfurt / Main)

Retinal screening is an effective way to reduce or prevent visual loss from sight-threatening posterior segment eye disease. The objective is to photograph anatomic structures of the posterior eye segment with enough detail to make diagnostic decisions. Diagnostically conclusive retinal imaging relies upon the interaction between the optics of the fundus camera with the optics of the eye itself combined with adequate positioning of the patient. Therefore, retinal imaging can present some interesting challenges, especially when performed in children. The aim of this study was to compare three different fundus cameras in terms of practicality and reliability for posterior segment screening in pediatric patients. Preliminary results are presented.
